21.30 Piazza Umberto I A seggia by the Tecne dance company, to the live music of Francesca Incudine and Carmelo Colajanni, choreography by Alosha Giuseppe Marino and Cynna.
Brief description: A seggia takes you on a journey, where fantasy, complexity, as well as, simplicity fuse with the contamination of various arts: urban-classical-contemporaty dance, physical theatre and acrobatics. Francesca Incudines music project iettavuci, written and sung in Sicilian, manifests the need to be heard, say something of importance, raise your voice: iettavuci in Sicilian denotes the urgency of comunication, but also the need for ones words to be heard above the background noise, tell a different story, call the attention of others, leave a mark, and thus Francesca tells of her feminine universe that is both delicate and dreamy.

Brief description: after the great success of last years Cuisine from all over the World, it returns. #CONTRODANZA: This year on the stage in P.zza Umberto I at 21,30 a concert by I Beddi, Pupi di Surfaru with the participation of Jali Diabate and the Die Freedes!!!!
The name #CONTRODANZA comes from a play on words. It is a type of dance which has been discovered and danced by many. It is a transgenerational way of spending time together, while discovering your roots at the same time.

Brief description: «Serenata a’ zita» revokes the courting rights that each and every lover dedicated to his love through romantic songs and the interpretation of the daily life of times gone by. Old songs and invocations, sayings and proverbs used by the peasants and farmers from the past provide the setting for a show of music, song and theatre which commemorates the centennial anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Pitrè, the renowned Palermitan demologist by looking at Sicilian beliefs and superstitions! On the eve of the revocation of the Historic Nuptual Procession and the Pantomime Dance of the Ribbons thanks to the colllaboration of the Ass. Ballo Pantomima della Cordella, the Ass. Teatro della Rabba and the Ass. culturale Fuori di Testa!

Brief description: RIEVOCAZIONE ANTICO CORTEO NUZIALE E BALLO PANTOMIMA DELLA CORDELLA: an annual event – not to be missed! On the first Sunday after ferragosto (mid-August bank holiday weekend) its music and colour enchants its spectators every year. The Ballo delle Cordella (dance of ribbons) a unique folk dance that has been included in the register of Incorporeal Heredity of the Sicilian Region. The tradition is over 70 years-old and has its roots in the ancient rights of the goddess Ceres. Twelve couples dance to the rhythm of a tarantella following the commands of the bastoniere,weaving the curdeddi (long coloured ribbons) around the pole and then unweaving them as they dance.

The final evening of the XXXIII MEDITERRANEAN INTERNATIONAL FOLK RALLEY: the hosted folk groups will perform highlighting their art, traditions and culture through dance on the stage of the Teatro Pineta Comunale. The evening promises a number of surprises. This year the evening will be hosted by Salvo Piparo.

Brief description: Ralley of Sicilian Folk Music
On the occaision of the Festival of Folk Tradition, there will be the third edition of the Sicilian Folk Musica Ralley.
All the musicians and dancers are warmly invited to come and join us here in Petralia Sottana to meet and exchange techniques and repetoire or simply play or dance together!!
The initial meeting point for all of the musicians is at 11.00 in the square behind the Town Hall where you will be welcomed and enjoy playing together.
All of the participants in the ralley will be offered lunch and in the afternoon we will be back in the main high street to play and dance until late evening in piazza Umberto I where there will be a grandControdanza directed by maestro Bartolo Cuccì to the sound of Angelo Daddelli!

PUPI SICILIANI (marionettes): Le farse di Nofriu e Virticchiu marionette show
Lopera dei pupi is the traditional Sicilian marionette theatre, created by the people for the people. Developed in the middle of the 1700s, it had an extraordinary success to the end of the 1800s when the advent of the new media, such as, cinema, then television, together with the disintergration of the social fabric of the local neighbourhoods in the towns, lost sight of public traditions. The theatre of the pupi also represented in Sicily a sort of mass literacy of the Sicilian proletariate. The farmers from hinterland farming areas, the fishermen from the coastal areas and the sub-prolotariate from the large towns and cities discovered Italian for the first time (lopera dei pupis scripts are in Italian). Only farce is performed in dialect: the Palermitan masks, the vastasi Nofriu,Virticchiu and company, were an authentic expression of the people who recognised themselves in the plays and could deride by using sarcasm the local dignitaries. Farce represented the comical and grotesque events of the Palermitan tradition, the vastasi Nofriu and Virticchiu who together with an array of bizarre characters were and still are an authentic expression of the people. The show consists of different comical episodes taken from folk stories and rewritten for the marionette theatre.
